Arriving several months after Folklore -- and just a matter of weeks before its sudden sequel Evermore -- Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions is a documentary built upon Taylor Swift performing all 17 songs from her hushed 2020 album live in the studio. This September 2020 session amounted to the first time Swift and her collaborators -- chief among them Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff -- played the songs live in the studio, and while the resulting performances offer no radical reinterpretations of the material, the warmth and intimacy of these versions do make them distinct from their studio counterpart; the songs seem slightly less dreamy here.
